Ghostface GOALS.

What are your goals and dreams for the future? You can share to us your dream house, dream workplace, or even your bucketlist before you turn 25!

Well since I am over 25, I’ll just ignore that part of today’s October Challenge prompt. I can tell you some dreams for my future though. In no particular order:

1. Be the authentic me – always. Never compromise myself again – for anyone.

2. Get a little professional with GHOSTFACEKNITTER. Meaning gain 5x more followers by next year for example – that sounds like a challenge to me – CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

3. Be tattooed by the greats – by as many well known and unknown artists around the world. Valerie Vargas, Dan Smith, Grime, Jher, Tim Lehi, Walter McDonald, DestroyTroy, Mario Desa, Alexander Grim, Liam Alvy, Jordan Teear, Danielle Rose…. Here are some photos of a few of these amazing artists.

4. Meet as many crafters/knitters as I can. I seriously love meeting other craft artists. I get along with them and I just have so much fun being able to seriously ask another person if I should hoard yarn now or risk waiting for a sale?

5. Here’s the one I just can’t let go of: Get my PhD. What’s that you say? Dr. Ghostfaceknitter has a nice ring? I know. It’s something I have always thought about whether jokingly or not. It would require the most time and dedication of anything I have ever pursued – but most things that are worth having require that don’t they?

6.Travel! On deck in 2013 alone: Des Moines for knitting at MIDWEST KNITFEST with Jen at MakeXdo. Thailand to visit my MINI ME. Denver for the holidays to celebrate OG style.

7. I just really can’t stress NEVER COMPROMISING AGAIN.

I’m excited I switched gears in my life – actually I got on an entirely different road – and am able to get the most out of me and in doing so, give back to others. I’m stoked to be a part of this blogging world, knitting/crafting communities, helping with the Elders, loving life, loving my family and friends, and for the first time in YEARS loving me.

My Favorite Word: DO.

Okay let’s get one thing straight.… My days of false promises and polite agreements are OVER. Put up or shut up. As Royal Tenebaum said; “I’m not talking about dance lessons. I’m talking about putting a brick through the other guy’s windshield. I’m talking about taking it out and chopping it up.”

I’m talking about DO. Forget ‘I’m gonna.’ That phrase is bull. Anyone who says that to me without a plan wasted mine and their own time. Do I sound angry? I AM. There’s only one life that we are living. You have to DO.

Let’s look at some examples of DO.

You wanna dive into some new hobbies? Do it!
You wanna dive into some new hobbies? Do it!
You wanna ask Santa for a new city and a new life? DO it!
You wanna ask Santa for a new city and a new life? DO it!
You wanna take a nap? Do it!
You wanna take a nap? Do it!
You wanna have a fun weekend with your blood? Do it!
You wanna have a fun weekend with your blood? Do it!
You wanna win friends and influence people? Do it!
You wanna win friends and influence people? Do it!
You wanna put up photos of the people you miss? Do it! (Besides a false promiser never painted over those holes so cover eeet up!)
You wanna put up photos of the people you miss? Do it! (Besides a false promiser never painted over those holes so cover eeet up!)
You wanna finally give up drinking and eat right? Do it!
You wanna finally give up drinking and eat right? Do it! But first maybe wipe off last night’s makeup unlike me….

I know we all DO things on our own time/schedules. I know some times are hard, believe me. I spent YEARS saying ‘I wanna/I’m gonna/Someday/When this happens…..etc etc.’ Now that I’m finally a DO-er I’m only upset because I spent so much time FIDDLIN‘. We all walk our own paths, we make our own lives, but what I want you to know is that time is finite – what are you gonna see when you look over your life at some point? A list of DO’s checked off and the awesome memories behind them? Or a bunch of crusty old “I’m gonna’s” that are as stale as that paper you wrote them on? I’m not saying fill your life of tasks – hell if you wanna just put on your list of DO’s ‘relax’ – DO it.

Take it out and Chop it UP folks. Make yourself proud. DO.

The Princess of Hearts!
The Princess of Hearts!

Today’s October Challenge is to pick the Top 5 blog posts I’ve written. This was hard, because everything I write is so amazing – like Nobel Peace Price worthy…. I digress, it wasn’t that hard, I knew which ones I’d feature immediately and I know most of you guys have loved them too based on your feedback and my site stats. Maybe they are new to some of you new peeps, but have a look!

First Best Video post: YOB

Then…..

In no particular order:

1. Crafter Blood – A basic explaination of when I was infected with the crafting virus.

2. Tattoo Life – Where my tattoos have given me the life I live.

3. Thesis Process Deconstructed – If you’re a new reader you may not know the struggles, the DRAMA, and the saga of me getting my Master’s in Economics. Here’s the condensed version – short and sweet.

4. A Tale of 2 Brothers – Obviously the Ugly Tribe has grown with the addition of Boris. I wrote this silly story in the few days leading up to getting him. Two…nevermore.

5. The Power of Positivity – Despite GFK’s reputation in Boyz Town as being a miserable person – I’m actually a SUPER positive person. I discovered how positive thinking can re-charge your life and make you a person that you’re proud of. Plus you’ll get to read about my couple crush on my Cousin Matt and his beautiful wife Oli!

Honorable Mention:

Sphynx Cat Q&A – wait you have a naked pussy? Let’s all just take a collective moment to do a major *EYEROLL* and read the Q & A’s about Sphynx Cats.

I have so much fun writing this blog – I hope you guys love reading it. Are there any topics you’d like me to explore here in Chicago? Ultimate hotdog stand tasting? Perhaps tattoo shops here in the city? Or WAIT! What about best wig shop?

Lots o’ Love.

Car Shows, Coffee, Trinkets, Knitting OH MY.

So yesterday’s blog challenge was to post your day in pictures. Yesterday was an awesome photo day for me. I went to the Iron Invasion classic car show in Woodstock, IL. It was so fun, plus I surprise ran into some great friends and spent the day walking, talking, and staring at vintage cars. Here we GOOOOO.

I used the camera on the bottom left to shoot a roll of 120mm film. It was fun and carefree. I did not use a light meter etc. so we shall see if the photos come out like dark blobs or if there are some awesome gems among them. I also came home to some Halloween cards which I LOVED. I love ‘real mail’ and I send a lot out, so it’s nice to get a few back in return every once in a while.

It was a fun Saturday with a surprise friend day and all the things I love. I really enjoy getting to do the things I want to. I spent a lot of the last few years waiting around for things to come to me or to ‘get better.’ I can assuredly say I am in charge of my own life now and am having an ATOMIC BLAST!

Blog Challenge : Rainy Day

Today’s Blog Challenge is what I like doing on a rainy day.

There are more rainy days here in Chicago than Denver. I like it though. Except when I get caught in a deluge walking home from the train – then it’s not really so magical. BUT – when I’m in doors I really dig the rain.

Here’s some stuff that makes a rainy day even better:

Knitting DUH.

Enjoying the best espresso with almond milk and flavored stevia.

Browsing my favorite blogs – check out a few.

makexdo
Carrots n Cake
Peanut Butter Runner

Using my cricut machine/making cards:

Calling family/friends and catching up:

excuse me sir – do you know that phone probably gave you a tumor?

Watching old movies:

Watching PBS-BBC shows – damn you Downton!

Taking a nap with 1-2 or all 3 members of the ugly tribe:

What do you do on rainy days? It’s nice getting to relax on those kinds of days especially if you do not have to go to work or school!

Blog Challenge Comrades.

This Blog Challenge has been a great experience so far – a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Mary at Secret Obsession for organizing it and getting such a fun group of bloggers together to talk about some not-so-stale prompts. Today the challenge is to ‘randomly’ feature 3 other participants. I went through them all not randomly and ta-da the creme de la creme for you all!

Cattails + Cardigans

Cattails + Cardigans – I love this blog – I’m so happy I stumbled upon it during this challenge. Sabrina has a very inspiring story to accompany an amazing blog. The positivity, creativity, and ‘sweet-tea-ness’ of Sabrina’s blog is for me addictive to read. I think I’ve creepily read all her posts. BUT it’s a good thing. Please do yourself a major favor and go look around on Cattails + Cardigans. Plus Omerica Organic from Denver is one of her affiliates – small world!

deliciously active

Deliciously Active

Deliciously Active is written by Bri – gee why did I choose this blog to feature?! But her writing and sense of humor had me in stitches immediately. The fun adventures she shares with her kids and husband are great. Plus, I cracked up at her husband’s topless selfies while she made delicious cinnamon pull apart bread. Her recipes are drool worthy and the giggle you get just might be enough to burn off the extra calories!

Effie Girl

I’m so happy I got to find this blog. Wendy is awesome! She eats a raw diet which I think is very bitching. I’d like to incorporate more of this into my meals and she has definitely inspired me! Plus she is funny and a DIYQUEEN – she has jewelry for sale on her site and even has a license to make skin care products. (You know I love some DIY and Beauty talk so it’s natural I LUB her!)

5 Feel Good Songs

October Blog Challenge how did you know I needed this so bad today?! It’s like you have ESP. Anyways – a good song can really turn the morning/day/hour around can’t it? Here are the top 5 that turn me from HULKRAGE/EMOSADPANDA/SLEEPYSLOTH to HAPPYFUNTIME.

5. Ellie Goulding – Burn

4. Katy Perry – Hummingbird Heartbeat *(let’s just accept the fact that I LOVE KP – she’s not going anywhere if you like me you’re going to have to deal – I’m sorry)

3. The Melvins – BORIS *the baby keeks namesake and overall a song that makes me think of happy hopeful times long ago

2. Peter Bjorn and Jon – Nothing to Worry About *quite possibly the coolest music video – no joke watch it Japanese Rockabilly – and also the anthem of my Aveda summer with Pokee complete with the trip to JAPAN.

and drumroll please…………..

1. The Black Keys – Howlin’ for you

I just love the beat, the guitar, the lyrics. It’s my ultimate put your darkest eyeliner on and go kick some ass.

What are some of your feel good – put you in a great mood songs?

Giving up something – OCT Blog Challenge

How I felt rolling out of bed on Monday – AK AK AK!

Okay, so if you talk to me during the day at any point you will probably hear me complain a little or okay maybe a lot depending. It’s not ‘over dramatic’ or constant, but sometimes my commute, my lunch, my co-workers do things to my stress/expectations that make me eyeroll like no one’s business.

This cube is *eyeroll* free.

Yesterday the prompt was to give up something. I chose to not complain all day long. It started off rocky because I burnt my eggs for breakfast, the bus was 10 minutes late, BUT I get to work 15 minutes early so it wasn’t really a big deal. Complain zone 1 – PASSED.

Work was great because it was BUSY. No time to be irritated or eyeroll because I had jobs to get done! Also I listen to Spotify and send songs/messages to friends during the day which cracks me up. I knitted during lunch and got another set of baby moc-socs worked on for a co-worker who just had a baby. You guys were all sure busy during 2012/winter 2013. 😉

When I got home I had to make so much chicken I bought at Dominick’s on sale so I’d had those marinating for a few days and baked them simple at 400F for 30ish. So phew- lunches for the next week are done! Then I drank several decaf/caf espressos from the all mighty Nespresso machine and caught up on all my TV I missed last week and knitted a “zoned-out project.” Which is just what I needed. Tonight will be a all sew-night. I have to get Winnie the Witch done – she has half her head stitched on – very Sanderson Sisters of her.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Childhood Photo

Birthday '92 or '93.
Birthday ’92 or ’93.

So any family and some friends know my birthday always merited a GIANT party. I loved these and actually this year, being in Chicago – was the first time I have not had a giant family/friends birthday party in almost 3 decades! It actually made me want to cancel having my birthday this year and move it!

Anyways this was in 1992-1993, a rare picture of Lois in the lime green. My entire extended family is there and I just loved moments like these. Growing up in a larger family made it so that events were GIANT and so fun. One of the few things I miss about living close to them is having these awesome get togethers at least once a month. Since my birthday is in July, we would have my party in the backyard and run wild. Lois would make spaghetti and we would all PIG OUT. My great aunt Nita would always give me PJs which I loved and I would clean up nicely in the toy/game/money department. I always had wonderful birthdays growing up and these pictures from this specific one remind me that maybe summer isn’t so bad.

If I had a…..

Day 5 of the October Daily Blogger Challenge – This one is going to be fun…

Complete the sentence: If I had a _________, I would __________. You can make as many sentences as you’d like.

1. If I had a TIME MACHINE, I would GO BACK AND WARN TESLA ABOUT THAT M*****F***** EDISON.
2. If I had a WINNING LOTTERY TICKET, I would ONLY TELL THREE PEOPLE & HEAD TO PARIS FOR VACATION.
3. If I had TALKING CATS, I would RUN A BLOG JUST BASED ON THEIR RANTS.
4. If I had a JOB AT A CRAFT STORE, I would BE SO INSPIRED EVERYDAY/MAKE ALL THE CRAFTS!
5. If I had a PHD, I would TEACH ECON 101 AND TRY TO INSPIRE FUTURE ECONOMISTS LIKE I WAS INSPIRED.
6. If I had ANOTHER PUG, I would NAME HIM D’ARTAGNAN – but I will not get another pug so don’t worry Lois.
7. If I had ONE EXTRA DAY A WEEK, I would DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
8. If I had a TELEPORTER, I would visit DENVER, FT. WORTH, SAN ANTONIO, NEW MEXICO, SEATLE, & FLORIDA DAILY.

These kinds of lists are fun, but it gets me thinking about the ‘what ifs’ in our lives. I recently have been FINALLY fulfilling a lot of my ‘what ifs’ and it is the best feeling in the world. Learning new hobbies, crafts – meeting new people, discovering new ways of life and lifestyles – it’s the ‘what ifs’ that make the goals and dreams in our lives. I’m happy do say my ‘what ifs’ get better and better as I continue to be the person I love being.

What are some of your ‘what ifs’? If you had more time in the day what would you do? Could you make it a reality now? Do you have some silly ‘what ifs’ to share? PLEASE DO!

in case you were wondering this is what a two-headed Boris would look like. FANCY!
