Five goals you wish to achieve this Christmas vacation
1. Fill in that empty dragon on my arm.
2. Knit a few cowls/projects.
3. Go on a mini-adventure (more on that later)
4. Drink five million Americanos with Peppermint/Chocolate flavors (it’s my holiday drink since 99% of places don’t have almond milk as a ‘dairy’ option)
5. Eat at Las Cazeulas – I miss green chili so effing much.
Those are all entirely attainable goals. Well maybe 5 million Americanos is a bit much, adjust that to 1 million.
I’m off to Denver tonight through Christmas Day and I cannot wait to see friends/family! Last night I had to run over to the DHL that is by O’Hare (approx. 30 minute drive) to pick up a package that they would not leave at my house. I spotted a super cute window santa on my way there and decided to stop for a soda water/picture of him on the way back.
Then I finished a fun cowl I just started on my lunch break – it only took about 1.5hrs to make! I haven’t ever really done a quick/simple project like this so I was over the moon about it. The pattern is free on Ravelry here.
Well I had a great weekend! It’s my last one here in Chicago before I leave for Thailand on Saturday!!! (WHAT TIME FLEW BY!) On Saturday I got a new iPhone 5s for my trip/life. Ever since I updated my 4s to iOS 7 it was just so slow and the battery would not even last for a few hours. The upgrade came at a good time because I’ll be able to use this new one on my trip as my primary camera.
Anyhoo. I met up with an old Mullen (my high school) buddy who recently relocated to Chicago and finally got to eat the November burger at Kuma’s Corner – the immortalized SLEEP burger. Pretty much it is a ‘Thanksgiving style burger’ with cranberry, gravy, turkey burger, topped with tempura fried stuffing and sage leaves.
Yesterday I accidentally got into the holiday spirit… I know what you’re thinking – “But Bree it’s only the middle of November!” I know I know. BUT Since I’ll be gone for Thanksgiving I had to set up and shoot all the photos for my annual Ugly Tribe Calendar this weekend. That meant I got to buy/set up a tree – I didn’t get to decorate at all last year so this year is gonna get nuts.
Then being such a coconut milk/almond milk enthusiast I was super super excited when I saw that this year there are even more holiday/seasonal flavors for the non-bovine ‘milk’ drinkers. So far – So Delicious is winning by miles and miles.
In terms of CRAFTS! I know it’s seemed a little dry here lately. BUT I’m gift making so I can’t very well put up photos of people’s future gifts. But do note that I finally bought the contrast color for my sweater and have been marathon knitting gifts so once I can give those gift I’ll post all the photos here. I did manage to use the sewing machine extensively last night/yesterday afternoon during the Chicago Tornado watch 2013.
It was a super busy, but fun weekend – Now on to the busy week before I jetset to Thailand on Saturday!
Godspeed!

I always get the song by Salt N’ Pepper “Let’s talk about sex baby – let’s talk about you and me…” stuck in my head. Today at Joann’s I was walking around humming it to myself and ad-libbed my own version.
Speaking of Joann’s, I obviously love to support local sew/knit shops, but sometimes I find myself at Joann’s for the selection and the ‘instant gratification’ feeling. I do shop for vintage fabrics and patterns on Etsy and online all the time though (you can tell I have chain-support guilt). Plus, unless you’re the first in line at the fabric table you have to wait FOREVER and I’m sorry most (not all) cut the yardage so uneven it makes my soul hurt.
Anyways! I show a lot of the knitting projects I work on, but I also sew. What’s that? Yes I do do it all! Kidding! My levels of skills varies greatly from each craft though. I’m just getting into intermediate sewing, because I just don’t keep up with it as much as I do my knitting. I don’t know why either because I have a beautiful sewing table that was my great grandmothers! I also have Carolyn Mary’s Pfaff machine that I am in love with already after only a few short projects.
So to inspire me to sew a little bit more, especially with the Holidays coming up I have prepared for a few fun projects. Today I kind of felt like it was even getting late to start for Halloween, but you know crafters are on their own hyper time-table! It actually reminded me of this:

PS Stanley Tucci is a GOD. Any movie he is in is pretty much my favorite.
Okay now on to the crafts:
Here is WIP door panel for Halloween – isn’t so cute?! I ordered it from Etsy and I just have the interior stitching and then border to do.
Then, here is fabric I will have to go back and get for Lois for Christmas.
Get excited! The holiday bolts are here!
Flannel is on sale for $2.99/yd at Joann’s so I’m gonna make a ‘quilt’ with this and sew along those dotted half-circles I think it will be ADORABLE. Plus, with this craft I finally got to buy FLAMINGO PINK thread…. once in a lifetime purchase I swear.
This pattern is dark, but I am going to make the Christmas tree center-piece.

Then I got this cute cat/halloween fabric so I made Mister Lee a bandana for his pug meet up today. 🙂
I did not buy this super cute Halloween fabric even though I was squealing when I saw it. I just don’t have a project for it and I don’t want to waste it.
Here is all the fabric I got today – the Christmas themed ones are for the table trees.
Yay! Sewing! Do you do multiple crafts? Do you find it hard to balance time and interest in both at the same time?
