25 days into Make Fat Cry

So here’s my 25 days in update of the 90 day make fat cry challenge! Oh look photos of me in my underwear!

Day 1 (top left) / Day 14 (bottom left) / Day 21 ( top and bottom right)

I have to say I’ve been having a great time on this challenge. The exercises are super fun and the general meal guidelines / menus are nice. Plus the results are awesome.

I didn’t realize how much I was eating prior to starting this- funny how everything adds up slowly.

I can’t really afford to eat the exact way the menu says, and I’m also eating it 100% vegan now.  I’m more following the pairing of carbs/proteins and fats.

With more than 2 months left I’m really excited to see what’s next!

Betty Rockers “Make Fat Cry” 90 Day Challenge

In my last post about finding balance, I mentioned that I am doing a 90 day health challenge. Well! The time has come! I am going to participate in Betty Rocker’s “Make Fat Cry” 90 Day Challenge. Other awesome news is that I am getting the support from my best friend Tannith from franklytannith! She did the 30 day challenge and saw such success that we are both motivated to do this longer and more nutrition based endeavor.

For the past few months, my exercise habits included more and more time running, spinning, and cardioing – but I could also feel my jeans get tighter and my eating habits fall back into not so good ones (“I’ll get back on track tomorrow…tomorrow…tomorrow”). I’ve reached a point in my life where I am ready for balance in all things. Thus, this challenge is the perfect way to kickstart this new way of living I’m in pursuit of!

Healthy nutrient-filled foods and appropriate circuit and body weight exercises (max 30 mins) could not be more balanced. If you’re not familiar with Betty Rocker (also named Bree! and she also lives in Denver!) you should definitely check out her blog & instagram to see all the awesome things she is doing in the fitness realm.

I have not been more excited for a ‘radical life change’ since I did the HCG Protocol 2 years ago. I will admit 15 pounds have crept back on over the past six months, but instead of going back to the Protocol as the first reaction, I am doing this challenge. I am ready to get back on track with proper portions and nutrition as well as do daily appropriate workouts. I have to say that nothing is more frustrating than spending hour(s) a day working out only to see absolutely no results physically. I know quite a few people like this and after seeing my New Mexico pics I have become one. Too much exercise + whacky nutrition based on imbalanced nutrient levels = not a body I’m taking care of.

So my friends, for the next 90 days I will be apart of this challenge and I am so excited. I plan on following it to the ‘hemp seed’ (one of the many great nutrient packed ingredients I’ll be eating) so that I can truly see results. I plan on updating at least weekly for the next 12 weeks – you know it will be before and after crazy on here.

I spent a good chunk of change and a good chunk of time today prepping for the first week. Although, I can’t share specific recipes on here (Betty Rocker owns that IP yo!) I will definitely share my progress and my experience along the way.

Here’s some funny time lapse movies getting ready for the week!

Weekend Photo BLAST.

I had such a great productive weekend! I love when that happens. Even though the winter is really starting to wear on me and everyone else in Chicago, spring and summer are right around the corner (I just know it!). Let’s see. I have really been having a blast at the gym – I know right I hate to be one of ‘those’ people, but since I’ve regularly ventured back at the beginning of the year, I have seen major changes in toning. I haven’t lost anymore weight, but I can definitely tell that the gym has begun to tone everything. I’m obsessed with before and afters so here’s one of my lifestyle/physical change from July 2013 to March 2014. 7 Months.

Before July 2013 at 195. After March 2014 at 160.

Then I have been dying to try this small Chicago Diner chain since I moved here, but no one ever wants to go. Saturday after my run, I decided just to check it out myself and I am so happy I did! The Golden Nugget reminded me of the diners that I grew up eating in with my grandma and grandpa. I got the Steak Omelette which was just perfect. I know Chicago has any kind of eatery you could imagine, but I’m cheap as hell and sometimes picky as in I have specific cravings so this place will do just fine by me in the future.

Then came the time to touch up my hair – I had been getting it done, but things changed so I’m back in the saddle with my cheveux. I think it came out well. There is a slight dark band about two inches out I’ll have to address since a bleach shampoo cap didn’t even touch it, but overall I revived the red perfectly.

on the left before, middle during/post bleach cap, right the finished product.

Then I went ahead and started my chest plate.

Just kidding – obviously they are fake tattoos!

Then because I’m becoming the queen of cheapskates I went to Aldi, Five Below, and a clothes shop Discovery. I’m going to start shopping only at thrift store here in the near future, because I’m over new-consuming, but my final hoorah at Discovery was great! I got two more tanks not pictured for a total of $27 so a week’s worth of new tops/a dress. Not too shabby.

Then of course…..

Sigh. Monday. Blerg.

My Favorite Word: DO.

Okay let’s get one thing straight.… My days of false promises and polite agreements are OVER. Put up or shut up. As Royal Tenebaum said; “I’m not talking about dance lessons. I’m talking about putting a brick through the other guy’s windshield. I’m talking about taking it out and chopping it up.”

I’m talking about DO. Forget ‘I’m gonna.’ That phrase is bull. Anyone who says that to me without a plan wasted mine and their own time. Do I sound angry? I AM. There’s only one life that we are living. You have to DO.

Let’s look at some examples of DO.

You wanna dive into some new hobbies? Do it!

You wanna ask Santa for a new city and a new life? DO it!
You wanna ask Santa for a new city and a new life? DO it!
You wanna take a nap? Do it!
You wanna take a nap? Do it!
You wanna have a fun weekend with your blood? Do it!
You wanna have a fun weekend with your blood? Do it!
You wanna win friends and influence people? Do it!
You wanna win friends and influence people? Do it!
You wanna put up photos of the people you miss? Do it! (Besides a false promiser never painted over those holes so cover eeet up!)
You wanna put up photos of the people you miss? Do it! (Besides a false promiser never painted over those holes so cover eeet up!)
You wanna finally give up drinking and eat right? Do it!
You wanna finally give up drinking and eat right? Do it! But first maybe wipe off last night’s makeup unlike me….

I know we all DO things on our own time/schedules. I know some times are hard, believe me. I spent YEARS saying ‘I wanna/I’m gonna/Someday/When this happens…..etc etc.’ Now that I’m finally a DO-er I’m only upset because I spent so much time FIDDLIN‘. We all walk our own paths, we make our own lives, but what I want you to know is that time is finite – what are you gonna see when you look over your life at some point? A list of DO’s checked off and the awesome memories behind them? Or a bunch of crusty old “I’m gonna’s” that are as stale as that paper you wrote them on? I’m not saying fill your life of tasks – hell if you wanna just put on your list of DO’s ‘relax’ – DO it.

Take it out and Chop it UP folks. Make yourself proud. DO.

Saturday!

So I had a pretty fun Saturday!  First,  I took Mister Lee (Leopold) for a walk and he was super happy about it.  I’m continuing to lose weight and am down about 19 pounds.

Image

I’m feeling good. So I’ll force you to look at this selfie. LOOK!  No I’m kidding. But, I’m happy that I’m successful on my eight millionth attempt to lose those last twenty-five-ish pounds.  I’ll do a blog about my weightloss in a few weeks so hold tight for the details.

Then, I cleaned my living room and basically sorted all my crafts and hobbies into their designated zones…. It’s getting kind of cluttery so I NEED to address my nightmare guest room closet that I have been carelessly making more and more disorganized since I moved here in December.  This week/next weekend I’ll get that all organized too.  I need to think about how to organize it properly though as there is no hanging rod or built in shelf so I’m going to have to buy something to act as a structure.  Any closet organizing help?  I don’t wanna spend A TON, but I want it to be sturdy.

Gosh that was boring okay now onto the fun stuff!

I took a class at nina – which is a fabulous knitting and yarn shop on Division here in Chicago (right were the Renegade Craft Fair was last weekend).  It was for a Chevron cowl – I mainly took it so that I could socialize with other knitters and get out of my habit of ‘solitude-knitting.’  Well it ended up I was the only one in the class which I was more than over-qualified for.  The instructor who was a total sweetheart felt bad, because I knew how to knit it by just reading the pattern so she didn’t have any new information to offer.  I did however have a great time chatting with her and found out they do a knitting group every Sunday so I think I’ll start going to that to make some friends.  Here is the chevron pattern that I ‘learned’ how to knit.  It’s actually really fun and simple.  I’m always amazed at how people discovered techniques to manipulate the yarn like this.  Damn knitter geniuses.

Then of course because I was there, I bought some amazing yarn from Knit Collage – which is a magical yarn company.  Their yarns are just so unique and beautiful – I fell in love with them all, but chose this one.

It’s so beautiful if I had dreadlocks I would want them to look just like this yarn…. le sigh.  Yes, thats a AAA magazine – didn’t know I was so cool did you?  I digress….. I’m pretty sure I’m going to do something similar to their bandana pattern available on their website for only $3.

You know you all want one now…. go to their website.  Do it. Do it now.  You can ‘thank me’ aka ‘scold me’ for showing you this little gem later! 😉

I also started a really fun baby bootie knit project on Thursday.  I did a ‘tester’ bootie as a trial run and I loved the way it turned out.  I was so angry none of my mean animals would let me try it on them 😦 – what good are they if they won’t model my knits!?

Step one:  knit till a little area for toes emerges….

Step two: then knit the rest of the shoe……

Step three: add the inside sock and TA-DA! A baby moc-soc!

Image

Okay, okay, so it took more than three easy steps.  It did however only take about 3 hours (I’m not a beginner though so use your own judgement here).  Here is the pattern it is only $5 and there is a coupon available on that Ravelry page with the pattern.  The designer is so creative and amazing! This is what her moc-socs look like.  (I used left over yarn (recognize the red/white/blue from Leopold’s Sweater?!) so that is why mine is ‘crazy’.)

I’m glad I did a test run on them though.  I have a few little tweeks I need to address just based on my knitting style so that it mirrors her finished product a little better.  Overall it’s a wonderful pattern and I am going to love making a lot of these little guys.

Gosh I’m exhausted and it’s only 9pm! Tomorrow I’m taking Lee to a Fall Frolic with other pugs.  Hopefully he can try to make some friends too.  I’m not holding my breath though.

Happy Weekend Friends!
